No, PlasmaConnect is completely independent from the collection companies. This is what allows us to compare all centers and show you the best prices.
You are allowed to donate plasma up to two times in a seven day period, with at least one day between donations.
Anyone in generally good health who is over the age of 18 that weighs at least 110 pounds.
Your first donation takes over two hours. After that it is usually around one to one and a half hours.
You can definitely switch between companies and locations but you have to be sure you don't try to donate more than twice in a 7 day period. Usually it is best to wait at least 7 days before switching companies.
1) A current photo ID with your signature (Drivers license, military ID, BCC etc.). 2) Proof of your social security number (Social Security Card, W-2, etc.). 3) Proof of your address (Utility bill, W-2, Paycheck, etc.). Make sure to call the center to double check you have everything before going to the center to donate.
Plasma is processed into many life-saving medicines that benefit millions of people. Plasma-derived medicines are used to treat serious disorders such as immune system deficiencies, hemophilia, and to treat victims of shock and burn incidents.
Whole blood donors can only donate one pint of blood every 56 days in accordance with FDA guidelines. The plasma donation process returns red blood cells and other blood components back to the donor’s body which is why donors are able to donate more often (up to two times every seven days).
